The PVI Score should be used to determine the likelihood of ITP in a given time period to reflect the clinical context (e.g. during treatment, baseline, after treatment, etc.).
| PVI Score | Likelihood of ITP | Expected Prevalence |
|---|---|---|
| 0-2 | Very Low | ~5% would be expected to have ITP |
| 3 | Low | ~15% would be expected to have ITP |
| 4 | Moderate | ~35% would be expected to have of ITP |
| 5-6 | High | ~70 to 95% would be expected to have ITP |
Percentages reflect the proportion of patients within each PVI score category who were ultimately confirmed to have ITP in validation cohorts. These values represent post-test probability, not population prevalence.
The expected prevalence is based on a sample of 443 patients from the validation study. Reference: Li N, Heddle NM, Nazy I, Kelton JG, Arnold DM. Blood Adv. 2021 Oct 26;5(20):4256-4264.
